Policies for sustainable peace:

Enduring peace is perhaps the most critical component for the sustainable development of societies and the protection of both people and the planet. Our global community is in desperate need of creative and inclusive policy solutions at all levels to resolve conflict, prevent war, and foster a culture of peace. Since 2007, the World Future Council has been identifying and promoting future-just, exemplary policy solutions through the World Future Policy Award

And the good news is – effective peace policies exist!

Join us on 28 October as we showcase a selection of inspiring, innovative and effective policies from the 2024 Award for Peace and Future Generations. From time-tested Indigenous customary law and wisdom to pioneering legislation for sustainable governance, feminist foreign policy, youth peacebuilding, neutrality and the peaceful use of international institutions, this event brings together experts from across sectors – including Indigenous leaders, policymakers and civil society – to highlight real solutions that are shaping a more peaceful world.

Featured policies include:

  • The Moriori Peace Covenant - Nunuku’s Law (Rēkohu, New Zealand);
